Com relação aos particípios (_ing e _ed) na função de adjetivos, este é um fenômeno comum em inglês. No português ocorre o mesmo, porém apenas com o particípio passado, não com o gerúndio.

 
Ex: Ele foi endividado pela sua falta de responsabilidade. Ele é um homem endividado.

amaze: He told an amazing story. We were amazed.
amuse: He told me an amusing joke. I was amused.
annoy: He used an annoying tone of voice. I was annoyed.
astonish: It was an astonishing performance. I was astonished.

bore: He gave us a boring lecture. I was bored.
break (somebody's heart): There were heartbreaking news in the letter. She was heartbroken.
challenge: It's a challenging job. The young manager is being challenged.
confuse: We received confusing directions. I was confused.
convince: He gave me a convincing explanation. I was convinced.
depress: We've heard depressing news. I was depressed.
disappoint: We attended a disappointing concert. I was disappointed.
